Workout Schedule | Regattas (see below)

Regular high school team practice takes place Monday-Friday from 3:45 to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday morning from 7:45-11:00. Middle School members train Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m.

In the event of bad weather, all water workouts become land workouts which include weight training, indoor rowing machines and other strength and endurance exercises.

Land workouts are held at the Scullers Clubhouse at 125 Bayview Dr. in Osprey, at the YMCA and at Benderson Park.

Responsibilities and skills taught and practiced by each team member include:

Sarasota Scullers Dryland TrainingWater:
Boat transport and prep
Water and boat entry
Rowing skill training
(individual, double, 4-person and 8-person)
Boat storage, care and clean-up

Land Training:
To supplement water workouts, and to build strength and balance, weight training and land training is interspersed with the water workouts (and used on days when it rains).

With the opening of Nathan Benderson Park in the East County, team members now have their choice of one of two locations for training:

800 Blackburn Point Rd, (at Blackburn Point Park), Osprey, Fl, 34229 with land workouts at 125 Bayview Drive

East County/Lakewood Ranch Location:

Regattas

Sarasota Scullers typically competes in 12 Regattas each year. Competing team members are selected based on attendance at practice, fitness and skill level. Participating members travel as a team on a charter bus arranged by Coach Alex and the staff. Hotel accommodations are pre-arranged so members stay at the same location. Parents and family members are responsible for their own travel arrangements and are encouraged and welcomed to join the team.

Team members eat breakfast and lunch together with family members joining in as they choose. Dinners often evolve into group affairs between team and family members, a time to relax, unwind and spend time together in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Costs
Each team member is responsible for their yearly dues and regatta assessments which include their portion of the entry fees, travel, lodging and meal costs as arranged by the Sarasota Scullers staff. Cost per regatta varies due to these expenses but an average of the regattas over the year is approximately $100 per regatta with personal incidentals additional.
