
"It takes an entire team the entire season to get these results," stated Kirby Gallie, Women's Head Coach of Sarasota Scullers. This is the first time a Sarasota team has won a gold medal at the Youth National Championships.
Melton Hill Lake, TN -Sarasota Scullers Women’s Lightweight 4+ won a Gold Medal after 3 days of racing in 100+ temperatures in Oakridge TN. In the three days of racing, 18 national titles were on the line in the men’s and women’s eight, lightweight eight, quadruple sculls, four with coxswain, lightweight four with coxswain, pair, double sculls, lightweight double sculls and single sculls.

Colleen Wohlrab, a graduating Senior from Pine View stroked the boat , “Carpe Diem” to an unbelievable finish on Sunday afternoon. In 3 Seat was Sr. Cara Rawe from Manatee HS, (National winner,Bronze in 2010)
Seat 2 and the bow seat were Freshman Devin Norder Pine View and Shawna Sims, Venice HS. Arianna Robbins, Sr. from Pine View was the coxswain that rounded out the Gold medal boat.
The National Rankings for the Scullers are:
Women’s 2- Dale Main and MaryBeth Bilder 5th
Men’s Lightweight 4+ Joe Pantera, Sam Bretz, Sean Mihm, Joe Mihm and Emily Deming 13th place
Women’s Lightweight 2X Katie Allen and Julienne Koehler 10th place
