Why Sarasota Scullers

Mission

The Team’s mission is to evolve teens into competitive athletes with a spirit of honor, self-respect, good sportsmanship, teamwork, high moral standards, good health and strong character.

A sport for anyone

An ideal sport for teens that aspire to competitive sports and are looking for a new avenue to pursue these interests, the Scullers’ rowing program has a proven track record for helping teens realize their athletic potential, even when they have not excelled in other sports.

Highest medaling team in the region

In 2009, 98% of all Sarasota Scullers’ team members earned medals at the State Championships as well as other Regattas held throughout the year. This type of achievement is a great self-esteem and confidence builder!

Middle and high school athletes will learn and participate in all aspects of rowing and sculling with professional instruction, coaching and a program that combines fun, fitness, technique and team building.

Train with the best

The Sarasota Scullers were ranked #1 in the State of Florida based on the 2010 State Championships. In addition, in 2010, at the National Championships Sarasota Scullers brought home the 1st ever medal for Sarasota County. And in 2011, we brought home a gold medal from the National Championships!

Home away from home atmosphere

Beyond the skills of rowing and competition, the Sarasota Scullers becomes a home away from home for teens and their families. Weekend regattas turn into family outings, with options to participate in group potluck dinners and provide a united network of support, for the team and each other. Many families have also taken advantage of the opportunity to visit a new place, enjoy time together, sightsee and spend a weekend away from home and free of life’s daily distractions.
