Sarasota Scullers Rowing Novices Collect Seven Medals

In their first spring regatta, Sarasota Scullers Youth Rowing Team novice and freshman rowers earned seven medals out of the nine events.

February 11, 2017, Orlando, Fla--In their first spring regatta, Sarasota Scullers Youth Rowing Team novice and freshman rowers earned seven medals out of the nine events entered at the Novice Regatta in Orlando, Florida.


The Women's Freshman 8+ launch for they race at Turkey Lake, Orlando.

The Men’s Freshman 2x and Women’s Novice 2x won their heats and posted the fastest overall times in the field. The Women’s Freshman 8+, Women’s Novice 8+, Men’s Novice 2x B-boat, and Men’s Freshman 4+ placed second, and the Men’s Novice 8+ came in third during their races. The remaining two entries, the Men’s Novice 2x A-boat and Men’s Novice 4x placed 4th.

“I'm extremely pleased with the results today. It was a strong start for our sprint season, and I am excited to see us continue to gain speed throughout the upcoming season,” said Coach Laura Brown.

Savannah Stewart of Riverview and Emily Naidel of Pine View, raced in the winning Women’s Novice 2x.

“Our race was pretty good considering we had given our all in the Freshman 8 race. We were immediately in front of all the other doubles and just held it down and trusted our fitness, as instructed by Coach Laura,” said Stewart.

The Novice Regatta is an opportunity for first-year and Freshman rowers from around the state to experience sprint racing against their peers before entering the competitive spring regatta season.

Sarasota Scullers next race Saturday, February 18, at Nathan Benderson Park. The entire team will participate in the American Youth Cup I.

2019 Jake Snyder Middle School Regatta

What a wonderful way to end our spring season!! The weather was great for a fun day of racing. We medaled in every event, ending the day with 2 gold medals, 1silver and 2 bronze medals. We are so proud of how our Middle Schoolers have grown over the season , they became stronger and faster athletes, teamates, and grew as individuals!!  

Congratulations to our two Jake Snyder Award winners for going above and beyond this season, we are honored to have you be a part of the  Sculler Family.  Congrats to Clelia Grobler and McKenzie King!!

2019 Tampa Mayors Cup

2019 Tampa Mayors Cup

We did it, We bought home the Tampa's Mayor's Cup for this year way to go to our Women's Youth Varsity 8+ (Shannon, Savannah, Ella, Sammy T, Charlize, Julia, Sarah, Emily N, Winnie). 

Other Gold medals finishes were the:

Men's Youth Novice 8+ (John, Johan, Christian, Anthony, Jaden, Jonas, Alex, Sebastian, Shannon)

Girls MS/Novice 4x (Pique, Clelia, Lexi, Lauren)

Men's Youth 4x (Jackson, TJ, Eli, Cory)

Women's Youth Novice 4+ (Michaela, Olivia, Kara, Chloe, Emily N)

Women's Youth Varsity 4+ (Shannon, Savannah, Ella, Julia, Winnie)

Men's Youth Novice 4+ (John, Johan, Christian, Alex, Colby)

Women's Masters 1x (Coach Laura)

Women' s Masters 2x (Coach Laura, Karen)

It was a great day of racing for many of our boats, congrats to all of our rowers and parents that helped!! 

 

 

2019 Sarasota Invitational Regata

Sarasota Invitational Regatta 

The weather was a bit rough but our team still showed off their stuff with 2 gold medals for our Novice Boys in the 8 and 4+, a silver medal for our HS Girls Ltwt 4+, and a bronze medal for our HS Girls 2x, congrats to all our rowers!! The weather proved to be just as tough on Sunday but our Master rowers came home with 3 Golds!! A great weekend all around.
